Real custom starts before the install.
You know what’s not “custom”? Ordering a peel-and-stick flooring kit online and hoping it fits your boat like a glove. That might fly in other places, but in Lake Havasu, where boats are as unique as their owners, custom means measured, cut, and installed by people who understand the water, the heat, and the lifestyle.
At Twisted Traction, we live and boat here. We’ve templated performance cats, fishing rigs, pontoons, PWCs, and even the occasional wild side-by-side. Every deck is different — and so is every install.
Here’s what actually goes into making custom marine flooring that holds up, looks sharp, and fits like it came with the boat.
Step 1: Templating your boat (aka not guessing)
We start with precision. Some boats already have digital templates available, we’ve built a library of them over the years, but if yours doesn’t, we’ll measure it by hand. And we mean every corner, hatch, and curve. EVA foam may be flexible, but sloppy measurements show fast.
We’ll walk your boat from bow to swim step, marking everything and noting trouble spots. You’d be surprised how many factory floors don’t line up perfectly. We fix that before the first cut.
Bonus: If your boat’s already in Havasu, we can come to you. Yes, even if it’s docked at the Riviera. Just say when.
Step 2: Design & layout
Now the fun part. Once we have your template, we’ll work with you on the look. You can choose from classic neutrals or wild custom color combos — even drop in logos, routed patterns, beveled edges, or bold color borders.
We’ll mock it up, review the design with you, and finalize your layout before it goes to the cutter. Because nothing’s worse than getting a sweet floor that doesn’t match the rest of your vibe.

Step 3: CNC Cutting
This is where it gets surgical.
We cut your deck using a CNC machine — think of it as a robot with a very sharp drill bit and zero tolerance for bad outlines. It follows your boat’s exact template to the millimeter. That means every curve fits flush, every hatch lines up, and you don’t end up trimming corners with a box cutter on your swim step.
No jagged edges. No DIY drama. Just clean, precise cuts every time.
Step 4: Surface prep
Before anything sticks, the surface has to be ready. We scrub, clean, degrease, and sometimes sand down spots that need smoothing. Even the best EVA foam won’t last if the surface underneath is dirty or chalky.
This part’s not glamorous, but it’s crucial. Especially in Havasu, where heat and water exposure test every adhesive known to man.
PSA: This is the step that cheap installs skip. It’s also why those kits you ordered online start peeling up after one weekend in the Channel.
Step 5: Install & seal
We place your custom-cut flooring section by section, working from centerlines and using pressure rollers to get even adhesion. Corners are rolled, seams are aligned, and edges are sealed down to resist water, heat, and movement.
We double-check everything. Why? Because we’ve been on boats where a rushed install ruins the whole experience. (Nothing kills the vibe like tripping on a raised corner while carrying a cooler.)
Step 6: Test, admire, show it off
Once it’s installed, we clean up, walk you through the finished deck, and answer any maintenance questions. You’re good to go same day — just no power washing for 72 hours while the adhesive cures.
Then you can take it out, hit the lake, and be that boat everyone else notices when you pull up to the Sandbar.
Why this matters in Lake Havasu
Here’s the thing: Havasu boating is its own beast. The heat, the foot traffic, the weekend parties, the full days at the sandbar— your deck has to hold up. And it has to fit your boat, your style, and your lifestyle.
That’s why we custom-cut every floor right here in town. No shipping templates off to a lab, no pre-fab “close enough” kits. We’ve done enough of these installs to know what works. And we do it like we’re working on our own boat — because half the time, we’re installing flooring for people we’ll see out on the water next weekend.
